The year 2011 in Review
2011 was a year of both good times and bad here at Misty Hollow.
Like many other years that have come and gone, there was life, death, happiness, sadness, success, and failure.
We've had to say goodbye forever to a few good friends.Several close friends of ours have crossed the Rainbow Bridge, and they have left lasting impressions on the lives of those they knew. May they rest in peace, and not be forgotten.
Our beloved Quarter Horse, A Bit of Amber, has grown old and been retired permanently due to age and injury. Amber is the best riding and teaching horse we have ever known. Many students grew and learned with Amber during her time as a school horse at Mystic Valley as well as UCONN. Amber has always been a pleasure to ride and learn with, and we thank her for her many years of teaching. At the time of this writing, Amber is tucked in the barn with a very serious injury. She was let out to play in the field earlier this week, and stepped on an old rusty nail. The nail severely penetrated the hoof, and on 12/17/11, the vet was called to the farm. Dr. Emery from Tuft's Ambulatory has done all he can, and only time will tell if Amber can recover. We are praying for the best.
Update 1/5/2012: A Bit of Amber has passed away. Thank you to all who have loved her. Her memory and her legacy will live on. Jen and Cookie and Providence will never give up, and will continue to ride and teach and learn for many years to come.
In the success department, MH Chromium was our first ever homerown grand champion. He's a beautiful fawn French Angora buck, and you can see his photo below:

MH Chromium has excceded all expectations, and he will be bred for spring 2012 litters. We are looking forward to the 2012 rabbit shows, as well as the new litters we have in the nestbox.
In the horse show news, Jen and Alias OneTuffCookie have had to take some more time off from showing. Finances just did not permit attending to the rigors of competition. Jen and Cookie may consider showing locally in 2012, but there is more important work to attend to. Students have returned to Misty Hollow, and Cookie and Providence have much work to do in the coming year. We have a very special student that wants to learn to ride Cookie, and we will do our best to meet that challenge in 2012.
The woodshop has made several quality grooming tables, and we look forward to making many more! Bob and Jen have had a lot of fun in the workshop, and we hope to continue to do so in the new year.
To all the friends that have supported us and been there throughout the year, we thank you! We look forward to seeing you again in 2012, and we look forward to all the friends that we'll meet in the following show season!
