How Misty Hollow Farm Was Named
Jen thought long and hard before she settled on the name of Misty Hollow Farm.
Naming a farm isn't always easy.
Misty Hollow was named for a few very important reasons.
For one obvious reason, Misty Hollow is located in (in Jen's humble opinion) the most GORGEOUS little valley in Northeastern Connecticut. All the neighbors know each other, and work together in order to keep this small village a village of working farms, quiet evenings, and a beautiful, safe place to live and raise animals.
When the fog rolls in from the nearby river, it covers our little valley until the sun warms the earth once again.
Misty Hollow was also named for some nostalgic reasons:
The first horse Jen ever rode was Misty, a beautiful bay bloodstock Appaloosa mare.
The barn where Jen learned even more about horses, showing, and especially 4-H, was called Pine Hollow Stables.
Misty for Misty, Hollow for Pine Hollow, and Misty Hollow for the beautiful silver mist that settles on this farm every morning of springtime. It's quite a sight to see.
Special thanks to Mom, Bob, and all who have made the past success that makes the future of Misty Hollow Farm possible.
